The first oil painting in a new series that I’m working on will be on display at The National Art League through December 3rd. The National Art League is located in Douglaston, New York.

This series will show contemporary portrayals of people in partner dance. “The Lindy Hop Party” is a 24″x”36″ oil on linen painting of seven people participating in a social dance.

Honorable Mention from The Greenpoint Gallery

Last month, judges for The Greenpoint Gallery of Brooklyn, New York began reviewing work from over a hundred different artists from across America for the 2016 National Competition. I am very pleased that they decided to give me an honorable mention for several paintings submitted from the Ladies in Black series.

Art Guild New Jersey show

I would like to extend a very fond farewell to the 1670 Irving Street home of Arts Guild New Jersey in Rahway. It has helped this great organization serve the art community for over a decade. The Guild will continue to live as an online entity for now, as it plans to relocate to a new location.

I would also like to thank AGNJ for including my painting “Going Out”, in the 2016-17 NEXUS show which opens on September 11 2016.

Art Shows in May and June

Several paintings from the Ladies in Black series have been selected for inclusion in national juried art competitions next month. During these shows a panel of judges will review selected art for artistic and technical merit and award money and prizes to the entries with the highest score. After judging, these paintings will be displayed in their perspective galleries for roughly a month.

“Going Out” will be included in the 86 Annual Juried Open Show at the National Art League. The show will run May 2 through June 4.

“Shoe Shopping” will be featured in The Brooklyn Waterfront Arts Coalition’s Wide Open 7 competition while “A Study of Lauren O.” will be featured in the Affordable Art show at the same venue. The BWAC gallery is located at 499 Van Brunt Street in Brooklyn and will be open from 1-6PM on weekends during the show (May 7-June 12).
